ABOUT US
Since 1979 our hospice has provided care to hundreds of terminally ill
patients who wish to live their last days in the comfortable and familiar
surroundings of their own homes. We also provide services for patients
residing in nursing homes or assisted living communities. The hospice
multidisciplinary team offers medical, social, psychological and pastoral
care to assist patients and their families to deal not only with the illness
itself, but with the broader issues of comfortably and peaceably concluding
life. As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to helping our patients
and their families and loved ones receive needed support and quality care.
Hospice of Boston and Greater Brockton provides services 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, 365 days a year.
OUR SERVICES
Physician Care: All care is provided under the direction of
the patient’s primary physician. Our medical director is available to
act as a consultant to the patient’s physician in the area of pain and
symptom management.
Nursing Care: A registered nurse with expertise in pain
and symptom control visits each patient on a regular basis to provide
care and teach caregivers or family members how to care for the patient.
Home Health Aide Services: Certified aides assist with
personal care activities such as bathing, mouth care, skin care, changing
bed linens, etc.
Social Services: Licensed social workers are available
to assess the emotional and financial needs of the patient and family.
They provide individual and group counseling to facilitate coping with
death and the loss of a loved one.
Volunteer Support: Trained volunteers are an integral
part of the hospice team. Their responsibilities may include companionship
and support for patients and caregivers, reading aloud, writing letters,
running errands, or providing respite for caregivers.
Spiritual Support: The hospice team works closely with
the clergy member of the individual’s choice. In those cases where a patient
or family requests spiritual counseling but has no recent association
with clergy, the hospice will assist in finding an appropriate member
of the clergy.
Bereavement Counseling: Family members are followed in
our bereavement service to assist in coping with the loss of a loved one.
Hospice team members identify difficulties in adjustment and provide appropriate
crisis intervention. Counseling is provided individually and with groups.
