Welcome to Hospice of Boston & Greater Brockton (HOB), a program of Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod (H&PCCC).
Established in 1979 as the first hospice in the city of Boston, Hospice of Boston & Greater Brockton is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing services that enhance the comfort and quality of life for patients and families experiencing the impact of serious illness and loss.
In April, 2010, our founder and Executive Director of 30 years, Ruth Capernaros, retired after selling the company to a like-minded non-profit hospice, Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod (H&PCCC). It was the first, largest and only independent non-profit hospice in its area, serving Barnstable County since 1981. Last year, H&PCCC created a collaboration with Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard and the Vineyard Nursing Association to form Island Hospice, the first Medicare-reimbursable hospice for residents of Dukes County. The sum of the three programs provides one contiguous service area ranging from Provincetown to Boston, including all of Barnstable, Dukes, Plymouth, Bristol, Suffolk and Norfolk Counties.
